4^th District VFW Umpire Payment Procedure 2008

1-       It will be the umpire’s responsibility to contact the team manager (by email or cell) to confirm location and time. This needs to be done 24 hours before game time. After this contact it is up to the team manager to contact the umpires of game status. 

2-       For game day canceling you need to call Muni before 4:30. If something changes before 5:00 you need to contact the umpires directly. If the umpires are not contacted before they travel, a $10 travel fee is due to them. If the umpire’s never contact either team this fee will be waived.

3-       Once the game starts, and is not completed, the umpires receive half pay.

4-       Once the game becomes official in length, full pay is required. If the score is tied and the game is stopped by weather or darkness, it is officially a tie. If both teams want to reschedule and finish, the additional cost will be charged to both teams.

5-       All payment will be provided during or before ground rules. Home team pays all. If the game does not reach official length as written above, an adjustment from full to half pay will be required.

 6-       If one team does not show they assume full payment and the game is official.

Travel Pay   $10 per man who shows.

How to check if your game is covered?

You can check the umpire web sites to see if your game is assigned. If you find a mistake let me know. Check both Metro and Muni for your games.

How to cancel or change a game (Not game day)?

You need to email your change with a reason for changing. If the date of the change is within 14 days you will be charged for the change. People have to do extra work to make the change.

How to cancel a game, field conditions (On game day)?

You need to call the main umpire office who is assigned your game before 4:30. Between 4:31 and 5:00 you will need to contact your umpire directly. They should have made contact with you before game day. If they have not it is on them for traveling to your field.

What happens if one team is short players?

The umpires will not start the game if one team is short. Fifteen minutes after game time it is declared a forfeit and the umpires receive half pay.

If you want to play in the VFW State Tournament, make sure your roster is sent to the address listed by the date required.
